Question of the week: What must I do this month, this week, and this very day to prepare myself for the heavenly banquet?

Blossom. Our two children tried out for a musical at school. Their hearts were set on getting leading roles. It didn't happen.... They were chosen to be flowers instead. Not exactly a ticket to Broadway. What a picture of how life is for us. Maybe you are depressed about how your life is going. You’re looking at others lives, and they seem to have the lead. You want, they have, no fair, Stop. Wandering desires produce crossed, disappointed feelings. Don't. They and you are right where you need to be, you are right where you have been planted. The gardener (God) has plans, and simply asks that you allow yourself to blossom. Lead or flower, each person has a specific role that gives beauty and life to our world. Fix your gaze on God. Be content in the present, trusting that whatever lies ahead is far better than what we leave behind. Know happiness not in what others have, but in what God has provided and promises for you. You've been planted. Today, Blossom! Happy Monday!

Pandemic What if you thought of it as the Jews consider the Sabbath the most sacred of times? Cease from travel. Cease from buying and selling.... Give up, just for now, on trying to make the world different than it is. Sing. Pray. Touch only those to whom you commit your life. Center down. And when your body has become still, reach out with your heart. Know that we are connected in ways that are terrifying and beautiful. (You could hardly deny it now.) Know that our lives are in one another’s hands. (Surely, that has come clear.) Do not reach out your hands. Reach out your heart. Reach out your words. Reach out all the tendrils of compassion that move, invisibly, where we cannot touch. Promise this world your love- for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, so long as we all shall live. --Lynn Ungar 3/11/20 See more

Life with Jesus. There once was a 4th of July parade. After many elaborate floats passed, a simple hay wagon pulled by a tractor came by. On the wagon 6 men worked madly sawing boards and nailing things together. The puzzled expressions on people's faces changed to laughter when they read the sign on the back of the wagon: "We thought the parade was next week!" ... Hmmmmm. A good reminder. There is a time to prepare, and there is a deadline after which nothing will do. Either you're ready or you're not. You are. All that you do to enrich and help the people around you, to live your faith has an effect on you. You are changed, and prepared for the good, the better, for the best. You are a living "readiness". Helping others to know the present and prepare for the future. Life with Jesus. See more
